White Bread

White Bread

Bake 350 degrees

3 cups warm water
1/2 cup shortening
3 Tbs. yeast
2 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
7-8 cups flour
Combine yeast, water, sugar and shortening. Let rest for 10 min.
Add 4 cups of flour to wet mixture. Add salt and remaining flour 1 cup at a time.
Dough should be slightly sticky but manageable. Knead dough until it no longer sticks
to the side of the bowl. Divide and put in loaf pans. Let rest for 5 minutes. Bake for 25-30 min.
Loaf is done if hollow sounding when tapped on bottom or quick read thermometer is at 190 deg.
Rolls:
Follow previous directions. After kneading, form dough into plum size balls.
Dip in melted butter. Rise for 5 minutes, bake 15-20 minutes.
I LOVE this recipe because it's very fast and the whole family loves it!

Does this bread not have to rise for an hour or so?

Nope, it just has to rise the 2 times 10 min, then 5 min. That's the beauty of it!
