Sugar Cookies

Mom’s Sugar Cookie Recipe! (Annette Evans)
1 cup butter (softened @ room temp.)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup sour cream
5 cups flour (I usually only use 4 cups and then add a little more, depending on how the dough looks. 5 cups usually makes them too dry!)

Mix butter and sugar well. Add eggs, vanilla & sour cream. Mix well. Add soda & baking powder. Mix. Add flour 1 cup at a time mixing well after each cup.

Chill dough at least 1 hour. Roll out and cut.

Bake 375* 5-10 min.
DO NOT OVERBAKE- THEY WILL NOT BROWN!
Small cookies 5-7 min.
Larger cookies 6-10 min.

Frosting
2 cups powdered sugar
2 Tablespoons milk
2 Tablespoons butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1-2 tsp. almond extract (depending on how much Almond flavor you like)
*we like to pass them out to friends and let them frost them... it takes a lot of the work out for ME and allows other people to enjoy frosting cookies without all the other work. [a tradition that my grandma started, and we've done it since I was little]
